The focal point for cultural and social events in Medicine Hat, Alberta is the Esplanade Arts & Heritage Centre. This museum, art gallery, historical archive, and performing arts centre was built in part through the efforts of Canadian Fertilizers Limited, CF Industries’ nitrogen joint venture in the Alberta community.

Canadian Fertilizers was the first major donor to the Centre’s fund-raising efforts, pledging $250,000 over five years – a commitment which helped spur other donations that ultimately led to the completion of the Esplanade in 2005. In appreciation for the company’s early fund-raising support, the lobby area at the Centre was named the Canadian Fertilizers Gallery Foyer.

Today the Esplanade showcases art and performances that entertain and enlighten thousands of children and adults in the Canadian community. Through its wide range of entertainment and educational events, it has become the anchor for business, social, and cultural activities in downtown Medicine Hat.
