Preparing meals at the Jambalaya Cook Off event
Great Jambalaya recipes
Every year in late summer, CF Industries’ Donaldsonville, Louisiana manufacturing complex – located in the heart of the state’s Cajun Country -- hosts a jambalaya cook-off to officially begin its United Way campaign. A dozen teams of Donaldsonville employees prepare their special jambalaya recipes in a competition for the first-place Gratin Cup and the honor of representing CF Industries at the ten-parish jambalaya cook-off in Baton Rouge.
But there’s more to this event than just cooking for the jambalaya competition. The food the teams prepare provides more than 1,200 meals for employees, contractors, police and first responders, and various local community organizations, such as the Donaldsonville Area Association for Retarded Citizens and the Assumption Parish ARC organization, which serves developmentally disabled citizens. The day’s festivities also include a program with speakers to formally launch the plant’s annual United Way fund-raising drive.
