Central Florida phosphate operations
Monoammonium Phosphate, or MAP, is what’s referred to as an “ammoniated” phosphate product because the use of ammonia during the production process provides nitrogen, as well as phosphate, content. MAP, at 52 percent phosphate and 11 percent nitrogen, can be applied by itself or easily mixed with nitrogen and/or potash fertilizers, often as part of a total N-P-K (nitrogen, phosphate, and potash) plant food mix. (MAP, which has a lower nitrogen content than Diammonium Phosphate, CF Industries’ primary granular phosphate product, is often used on crops such as soybeans.) As a granular product, MAP can be applied directly to the soil using conventional spreading equipment.
CF Industries' MAP Production is at its Central Florida phosphate fertilizer operations, which include one of the largest integrated ammonium phosphate fertilizer production complexes in the U.S. It distributes MAP via direct domestic shippment, exports (primarily to Latin and South American markets), and also through its dry products warehouses located in key Corn Belt states.
