Corporate Stewardship
Our commitment to corporate and environmental stewardship
Our mission is to provide reliable and affordable solutions that help feed the world sustainably and power the global energy transition, with decarbonization central to both our mission and our business strategy.
Corporate Stewardship is embedded into how we operate and grow our business; as such, our priorities reflect CF Industries’ core business strategy and the issues most critical to our long-term performance, resilience, and license to operate. Our stewardship program spans both our operations and value chain, with a focus on maintaining a culture of safety excellence, decarbonizing our production footprint, supporting and developing our employees, engaging constructively with the communities in which we operate, and continuing our commitment to ethical conduct and rigorous governance.
We have organized our approach to stewardship into four dimensions that shape our priorities: Energy, Emissions & Climate Change; Our Workplace & Communities; Food Security & Nature; and Ethics & Governance. These dimensions serve as the foundation of our corporate strategy and incorporate our material topics, as validated through our first double-materiality assessment completed in 2025.
2025 Corporate Stewardship Report
CF Industries’ 2025 Corporate Stewardship Report provides a detailed overview of how CF Industries integrates sustainability into our business model, operations, and interactions with stakeholders. This report explains how we manage our business strategy, performance, and goals within key environmental, social, and governance (ESG) areas. It is intended for stakeholders who wish to understand our ESG priorities and performance, including customers, investors, and finance professionals.
Shaping our Sustainability Priorities
We shape our sustainability priorities through ongoing stakeholder engagement, regular alignment with our business strategy, and formal assessments. This includes our Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) process, materiality assessments, and topic‑specific risk reviews. The resulting priorities guide our strategic decision-making, including assigning responsible teams and functions, designing and allocating resources for initiatives, and setting Company goals.
In 2025, CF Industries conducted a double‑materiality assessment, using a methodology aligned with current best practices and regulatory developments while still tailored to our business, to identify and prioritize the sustainability impacts, risks, and opportunities most relevant to our company and stakeholders across the value chain. More information on the material sustainability topics which guide our strategic focus, corporate sustainability goals, and reporting across our four corporate stewardship dimensions are available in the ‘Corporate Stewardship at CF Industries’ section of our report.
Corporate Stewardship Goal Progress
Message from President and CEO, Chris Bohn
To our stakeholders:
I am honored to write to you for the first time as President and Chief Executive Officer of CF Industries, and to reaffirm our commitment to stewardship grounded in action, not words.
For 16 years at CF Industries, I’ve seen how our focus on value creation and responsible leadership drives both near- and long-term performance. Today, that same focus is guiding the evolution of our business — and what we believe will be the transformation of our industry — toward a more sustainable, resilient future.
For CF Industries, corporate stewardship means: actions over promises — we’re taking tangible steps to reduce emissions, strengthen communities, and innovate responsibly; a company in motion — we are making tremendous progress on our goals today and positioning our Company for long-term success; and four dimensions that shape our priorities: Energy, Emissions & Climate; Our Workplace & Communities; Food Security & Nature; and Ethics & Governance.
Sustainability at CF Industries
At CF Industries, sustainability is embedded into our corporate strategy and is at the core of every decision we make to maintain and grow our business. In 2025, we completed our first double-materiality assessment and a climate-scenario risk analysis to refine our understanding of our key sustainability risks and opportunities.
Clean Energy Initiatives
Since 2020, we have pursued a strategy that leverages our unique capabilities to accelerate the world’s transition to clean energy by producing ammonia with lower carbon intensity. We believe by focusing on leading in low-carbon ammonia and upgraded nitrogen products, we will strengthen our competitive position and create new market opportunities. The viable market opportunities span power generation, agriculture and consumer packaged goods, low-carbon ethanol, hydrogen transport and storage, low-carbon industrial applications, and maritime fuel.
